Rappahannock County Treasurer Charles Russell Wood, 77, died late Tuesday night at University hospital, where he had - been a patient for several days following two years of declining health due to a heart ailment. - Mr. Wood was the son of Ashford and Lucy Smith Wood* of . Rappahannock. He attended Roanoke College, Salem, and Eastman Business School at Poughkeepsie, N. Y. In his early years he was in partnership in. farming with his father. He was in the merchantile business at the woolmi mills at Laurel Mills, and he . served 20 years as cashier of the Rappahannock National Bank,

Mr. Wood served a four-year term as deputy treasurer prior toholding the position of cbunty treasurer for a period of 28 years until the time of his death. He was a- deacon and the secretary and treasurer of Flint Hill Baptist church in which he held his membership.
