Panthers Take Stonewall
Both Junior Varsity and Varsity Panther boys were victorious over Stonewall on FridayN January 13. We hope that they will play as well' when the girls and boys meet Sperryville this Friday, January 20. The games will be played in the Sperryville High School auditorium.

Wage Earner’s Paycheck
A clear account of how much of the wage earner’s paycheck i« now going to federal government was 'given Tuesday in a radio broadcast by William J. Bird, naj tional affairs advisor, Chamber of Commerce of United States.
Speaking over WCVA, under sponsorship of Culpeper Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Bird said that wages to the average American citizen is a very important item. He said it was the desire to make ends meet that was the drivng force for the American family under the system of free enterprise.
The broadcast was the third in a series of eight being presented local radio audiences by the Culpeper Chamber of Commerce in co-operation with the Chamber of Commerce of the United States in the interest of better government through better citizenship.
“Our government lives only on taxes,” Mr. Bird said. “It has no other way to get this money that it is spending on all these socalled ‘benefits’. Our government doesn’t produce anything, it does not earn money, it only collects money from the people and then disburses that money—minus a fat handling fee.
“We, the people, earn the money. The government gets it from us by taxing. Then it goes to Washington, into the Treasury pool, and is finally handed hack to us as services, projects, and benefits. But of course, we never get back all that we pay in, because a huge amount of that money is retained to pay the of
