r Rappahannock county hat bean allocated 146,477.00 to assist the farmers in carrying out soil and water conservation practices next year under the Agricultural Con* serration Program.
This amount represents only a part of the total conservation in* vestment which farmers will make under the program, Chairman H. S. Barksdale of the PMA county committee said. He explained that PMA shares the cost with farmers and on most practices the Government pays about 60 per cent of the out-of-pocket cost. This as* sistance may be in the form of . materials'such as lime, fertiliser, or seed, or may be in cash.
The Chairman said that the 1051 Agricultural Program in Virginia will continue to stress the fee of lime, phosphate, cover crops, and pasture seed.

A copy of practices selected for Rappahannock county will be terali farmers in the near future.,
Mr. Barksdale said that the; PMA county office is now taking reports from fanners on conservation practices carried out under the I960 Agricultural Conservation Program. He urged the farmers to make their reports promptly if they are eligible for cash AOP payments or if they have used materials received under PMA’s purchase order plan.. Farmers will not be allowed credit until reports are properly filed.
