A kindergarten pupil was sent home and told to ask mamma or poppa to teach her' a poem. She returned to her school the next day and here's what she recited:
“Lettuce denby uppen doing
Widow Hartford N E'fate . Ear-ache cheevin, ear-par sueing
v.
Learn to label and two eight.” The teacher didn’t know whether to be pleased or offended. There is still some question in her mind as to whether the parents were making fun of the school’s curriculum, or whether they were really trying to help.
* * * i The newspapers told us last week of a Christmas parade out .in some mid-west town where the smart-alecky adolescents of the town snow-balled the parade Santa and succeeded in behaving themselves like a bunch of hoodlums. It never occurred to them, of course, that there were little fellows in the crowds to see the parade who had anticipated this appearance of old St. Nick with long hours of impatient waiting.
