On the highway near the homo of Mrs. W. P. Slaughter a large tree was broken in two and one section of it fell across the road. Traffic got by the tree by pulling to one far side of the road.
A big tree fell across the highway in front of Wood Brothers Packing House. This tree brought down telephone wires and disrupted service from that neighborhood for nearly 24 hours. Falling as it did, the highway was completely blocked and it would have caused much more trouble in halting traffic but for the fact that it fell in exactly a right spot to allow cars and trucks to detour through the driveway in front of the packing house.
No other serious damage has been reported. One light in front of the Baptist church was blown off its base, and a number of small trees and bushes were broken off or up-rooted. The rain fell as if someone had dumped a bucket.
The storm was not as severe in other parts of the county, though an unusually heavy rain fell near Woodville. trees and electrical wires.
