A story is told of a young school teacher, in a one-room school, who found the school yard's hazardous place for the email 'children to play because of the rocks and gravel. She inaugurated a game. Lines were drawn the length of the yard at ever-increasing distances from the fence. On the fence-posts were placed bottles or tin cans. According to the pupil's age, he could stand on a certain line, take three turns, and see if he could knock the cans off.
That was soon known as the cleanest school yard in the county.
The fanner who owned the field next to the fence wasn’t so happy about the pile of rocks and gravel, but H was too late when he found out what was going on.
