True, ps the Echo editor states, the News has a feminine editor, but that feminine editor disagrees with the gentleman's accusation that she “view* the female council and especially the female mayor as through a glass, darkly.'*

The feminine editor thinks the feminine mayor is a charming lit* tie lady, photogenic, and definitely conscientious about her job. On numerous occasions the feminine editor has seen the feminine mayor escorting visitors about the town. It has been quite obvious on these occasions that the feminine mayor has been hospitable aqd gracious, and has been a credit to the town. *

The feminine editor has stated that she thought there was too much cheap publicity connected with the feminine government, but there is agreement on all sides With this thought—and the ladies, themselves, have voiced this opinion.

The cheap publicity came their way. The feminine editor refuaeq to believe that the ladies of the council or the lady mayor sought this cheap publicity.

The county newspaper has a number of time poked fun at the ladiea* government—as have most of the citisens of the county, at one time or another—but that does not entail complete disapproval. Any public figure knows that sooner or later he will ba placed in a cartoon in one of the big city papers, and this does not mean disapproval, it is one of the prices to he paid for being in the public eye. The local ladies are bound to have known when they went into a public office that they were going to have a trouble or two. Now, if they had just got into aome big office, they could have had a crowd hanging around, bowing and scraping, in hopes of some good-paying job with no work attached, but the public offices in a small county seat can't have that gldry. All the ladies can hope for is plenty of work and plenty of criticism, and no adoring crowd awaiting the conferring of favors. They ain't in the mink-coat deep-freeze set; they are just in a small town.
