Returns-Per-Ewe Contest
Open to Sheepmen
Farmers in Virginia who own 15 ewes or more are eligable to compete for prizes in a ’’returnsper-ewe” contest.
George Litton, associate animal husbandman at V.P.I., says the contest is designed to encourage better 'flock management practices in Virginia. It is sponsored by the Virginia PureDred !Sheep Breeders’ Association and the Extension Service.
Sheepmen interested in competing should sign up by January 1. Entry blanks are available from the animal husbandry department at V.P.I., Blacksburg.
Farmers entering the contest should have an official count made of ewes in November or 'December. County agents, vocational education instructors, tSCS representatives, or any member of the Sheep Breeders’ Association can make the count.
The contestants who have th^ greatest returns per ewe will be the winners of the contest. Prizes are: . first, $35; second, $20; third, $10; and fourth to tenth, $5* each.
