... .. of land as much, as twofold or more in our adjoining counties. Wo are beginning to feel the influx of outside buying of farms in our own county. Many or most of our new friends and neighbors aTe interested in horses and hunting. Our new friends, or “furriners” as some might call them, are building up the farms around us, thereby making our own farms more valuable. They increase the wealth of our county, not only from the increased property value, but in new ideas and community interest. Maybe some of the Old Times clo not like new blood or ideas but I do believe th^t it does provide us with a stimulus for improving our standard of living.
The dog of today has not changed much, except perhaps he does not have as many chores on the farm. He’s still leading his dog’s like as a pet, guardian, or just a friend . to man, but no one could say that the native have lost any interest in their hounds after hearing Gabe Burke’s cries of jubilation over his Fifer winning last year’s hound raee, and extended celebration of the important event.
We hope that all of you will be with us Saturday, as the Rappahannock Hunt is trying to provide you with fun and sport.
