The other, evening I listened on the radio to Vice-President Alben W. Barkley. The Veep was in good form and when he's good, he’s awfully good. The gentleman from Kentucky always has had “the gift of gab," and the passing of the years has not dimmed his oratorical powers nor his ability to turn a neat phrase. v The Veep was making out a great case for the New-Fair Deal, , and he was quite convincing considering the record of corruption and wastq which has been laid at its door. Yes, the Veep, in the face of overwhelming odds, was painting a beautiful word picture of the glorious achievements of the Administration of which he is a part.
At long last he came to Social Security. That, he maintained, was one of the great, if not the greatest accomplishment of the New-Fair Deal. Then he went on to say that no Republican candidate would dare to suggest to his electorate that this great boon (?) to the American people be abolished; that any candidate foolish enough to do so would be snowed •^*^*i*nnniv¥VvirwwvwinAnWASHINGTON
