Trial Justice R. H. Marriott of Fauquier County fined a brush burning violator $50.00 and court costs on Friday, April 25, at Warren ton, Virginia. '
Chief Forest Warden S. W. McCarty issued the warrant on Tuesday, April 22. The employees of the landowner were burning brush within 300 feet of the woodland before 4 p.m. Tuesday was one .of the most hazardous forest fire danger days that, the Commonwealth has been plagued with for many years. In fact the estimated damage for the 6-day seige of hazardous fire weather runs' well over $1,000,000.
Judge Marriott, well aware of the “powder dry" condition of the forests found the defendent guilty of violating the open air burning law. The law carries a fine of front $10.00 to $100.
