Dangers Are Too Great
It's not the hunting that concerns several stock-raisers in the country. They think as a sport it is fine; they are happy over whatever pleasure and recreation it gives.
Getting a fine piece of stock killed by a stray bullet is what worries the cattle men of the county. There is never a thought that any hunter would* purposely kill stock, but the accidents are too apt to happen.
“Posted” signs are all over Nthe county. Farm owners know that men are nervous Working in fields when the sound of guns is close by. A hunter in the woods cannot possibly tell where his bullet will go, whether it will ricochet from a rock, or just what damage will be done.
The general opinion is that another year will-see the end of most hunting in Rappahannock county. Most land owners feel that the land is too thickly populated now to allow much hunting.
