Brings Jail Sentence
Friday, December 12, marked the first case in Rappahannock county -when failure to turn in a revoked ■driver’s license caused a jail sentence. Ten days in jail, right before 'Christmas, was the subject’s penalty for failing to answer a request to turn in his driver’s license after it had been revoked.
Inspector Miller, of Luriy, stated that the Division of Motor Yehicles notifies a person to send a revoked license in to Richmond, and if this is not done immediately, then the subject is carried into court and a fine and jail sentence result
Driver’s permits are revoked for two charges of reckless driving within 12 months, and drivng under the influence of intoxicants. Either or iboth of these offences suspends a driver’s permit at the hour of conviction and the permit should be mailed to Richmond.
Sneads In Auto Accident
Saturday evening as Mr. and Mrs. R. V. Snead and family, Ray, Dana and Sam, and Miss Mary Miller Wood were reluming from Washington, D. C in route 211, between Rmkland arfd New Baltimore, when a truck jammed into the rear of Snead’s car. Both vehicles were damaged, but the passengers received -only a few bruises and stiff necks.
The 1952 Chevrolet pick-up truck, owned by the Gallaghen Farm, was firiven by Henry C. Jenkins. Mr. Jenkins has never had an accident or a permit during his twenty-odd years in operating.a car. He was given permission to drive by the owner of the pick-up.
The Sneads aryl Miss Wood were returning from a visit to Mr. Snead’s sister, Miss Marjorie Snead, a patient at Garfield hospital.
