Question of the Year: What effect wilt the new regulation issued by the &ate Veterinarian governing sale of cows (by the head) through livestock markets have; on cattle prices; in controlling Brucellosis etc, the dealer in livestock? ? ? ? The only information the writer can find on the subject w|ich was received by him from the State Department of Agriculture is in the July issue of Bulletin No. - 514 “Department of Agriculture Immigration of Virginia." Under division of Animal Industry this bulletin states.” Among other things, these regulatons provide that all dairy and breeding cows not accompanied by a health chart shall be tested by a veterinarian at the market, unless they are sold for immediate slaughter.”
Representatives of the Front Royal Livestock Market and a couple of Rappahannock Livestockmen attended a meeting in Staunton. I believe in August, on this regulation. At conclusion of this meeting the belief ,was that the idea of putting this regulation enforce had been squelched.
