Mrs. Annie Mary Welch was hostess to a surprise family gathering for dinner on Sunday in honor of their mother, Mrs. Mary Jane Dodson, who celebrated her 79th birthday. Those present were her daughters, Mrs. Agnes Jenkins, Mrs. Maggie Clater, Mrs. Susie Brown, and Mrs. Gladys Anderson; her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dudley Dodson, Lester and Raymond Dodson. The grandchildren and great grandchildren present were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Martin, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Fox and their children, Jo Ann and Jerry, Mrs. James Broyles and sons, Bobby and Buddy, “Sonny,” Roger and Billy Anderson, Tommy Brown, Miss Linda Dodson, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dodson and their daughters, Judy and Jane and Rev. David Menchhofer.
The very special and most impressive feature of the day was that Mrs. Dodson united with the Methodist church and surrounded by her family the vows were taken with the Rev. Menchhofer officiating at the baptismal service.
