The Rappahannock Charge of the Methodijt Church joins with the Department of International Justice •and Goodwill of the National Council of Churches in sponsoring a nation-wide essay contest. The title for essays is the “United States and the Under-developed Areas.” Essays must be one thousand words or less in length. The contest is open to all young people in the age group from 15 to 23. The contest started November 1, and will end midnight, March 31, 1953. The winners will be announced on or before May 15, 1953. There will be two sets of prizes, one for the afee group, 15-18, and one for the age group, 19-23 years. Two First Prizes_ $400 each
Two Second Prizes_ $200 each
Two Third Prizes.. $100 each Twenty Prices_ $25 each There will ,be three distinguished judges: Eric A. Johnson, President, Motion Picture Association of America; chairman, International Development Advisory Board for Point 4. Midred McAfee, former president of Wellesley College, Massachusetts, a vice president of the National Council of Churches. John C. Bennett, professor of Christian Ethics, Union Theological Seminary, New York City, author of “Christianity or Communism.”
