Chiefs Meat White Sox
Giving up only three hits, Milton “Junior* Hawkins Jr. pitched the Rappahannock Chiefs to a 5 to 1 victory over the Winchester White Sox on Sunday, August 23. This Sunday, August 30, the Chiefs will play ' Clarke County at home. The Labor Day game with North Mountain (at home) will be the last league game.
v William Henry Scott
William Henry Scott, prominent farmer of Amissville, died Sunday afternoon at his home after a lingering illness.
Mr. Scott, 73 years of age, was the son of the late John Scott and Mrs. Emma Minner Scott of Black Swamp, Delaware.
Funeral services for Mr. Scott were held Tuesday afternoon from the Amissville Methodist church with interment in the family section of the church cemetery. Rev. David Menchhofer officiated at the last rites.
Mr. Scott is survived by his wife; three daughters; two sons; four brothers and one sister. Active pallbearers were Graham Hackley, Elmer Jenkins, Charlie Compton, John Tapp, Charles Green and A. C. Latham, Jr.
