Polio Chapter Elects
New Officers
Friday, October 23, the Rappahannock County Polio Chapter met at the Fire House in Washington for the purpose of reorganizing and revitalizing. John H. Yeatts, State Representative of the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis, showed several films. He told the interested persons present—a mere fourteen—that soon polio would be a dreaded disease of the past. A vaccine is to be' given to the youths , through vaccination (as smallpox vaccination is now administered). This vaccine will ward off the crippler POLIO. The January drive will be to summon funds for this vaccine.
James W. Fletcher was elected co-chairman of the chapter with Mary Edna Schaefer as vice-chairman. Secretary elected was Miss Ruth Stevens while Jock Brown was elected treasurer. Mrs. Milton Gore was elected the campaign chairman for the campaign beginning in January.
