Highway 340 (old State Highway 12) will be used for much ot the route. Connections will Be~ made with important through mail trains at Martinsburg, Waynesboro, Glasgow and Roanoke. The new highway post office will exchange mail with the existing HarrisonburgWashington, D. C. highway post office at Harrisonburg and with numerous truck mail routes. Mr. Harrison said postal officials emphasized the improved service would be felt by many communities off the -dircft route of the highway post office because of the new connections made. Some mail to and from distant points would be advanced as much as 24 hours, it was stated.

A direct connection with the highway post office * will be made at Front Royal for mail to and from Huntly, Flint Hill, Washington, Sperryville and Woodville, according to the Post Office Department.

Other Rappahannock communities may be, serviced more expeditiously . over existing routes, it was explained. '•
