Each practice within itself is fine; * however, Dr. ‘Horsfall,. who is in charge of orchard rodent control research at VPI, advises to treat for mice before the orchard floor is disturbed otherwise the chances are that in cleaning from under the trees you will tend to drive the mice deeper making poisoning operations more difficult. Also Dr. Horsfall states the presence of apples on the floor of the orchard does not reduce the take of poisoned apple bait if bait- . ing is done properly and on days when mice are active. He recommends the placing of zinc phosphaide treated apple cubes and zinc phosphide chufas together in <the bait station. Rappahahnock Supply has
zinc phosphide on hand, and directions for preparing and distributing poisoned baits to all purchasers of this poison; directions are also available at this office.
