The weather we have been having for the past few days should make the mail carriers feel better—not having to wade through the snow to get to the mail boxes.
I wonder how mdny thought to clean a place in front of their mail box during the snow of last week, so the mailman could get to the box without having to get out of his car—how many realize that postal regulations state that a mailbox should be so situated that a mailman can reach it without leaving his car.

Well, It looks like the Hawaiian statehood question will be shelved for the present. Hawaii has always had a Republican leaning and 2 additional Republican Senators in Congress would have, suited the ins. But when Alaska was included in the bill with her 2 Democratic Senators, that was a horse of another color so I predict that the bill for. Statehood of Hawaii and Alaska will be forgot for the present.

The fund raising campaign the local Rescue Squad has started is proving a success, according to members of the squad. To date $70 has been contributed by the citizens of the eounty, with promises of more forthcoming. The money contributed is to^be used to purchase equipment for the Rescue Car which will be on call after next week for emergency calls anywhere in the county. If . you wish to make a contribution to this worthy cause mail your check to C. T. Bruce, treasurer, Washington, Va. And remember ALL of this money stays in Rappahannock to work for you and your family.

What would we do without the P.-T. A’s. in the county? The one in Flint Hill seei to it that all fire extinguishers in the school there are filled and in proper working order. I understand they are trying to get the doors in the school repaired so that they can be opened quickly in case of an emergency.
