Illffll Rappahannock farmers have been sent a sample copy of “Timely Tips For Farmers” which this office plans to assemble monthly and send throughout the year to those requesting it. These tips will be related to poultry, crops and pastures, livestock including dairy cows, and horticulture practices appreciable to the counties agriculture. Also we plan to include a schedule of coming events and list of new publications on agricultural research findings at our Experiment Station. All such matter going out from your county agent’s office under the franking privilidges must be by request so be sure to mail in your card enclosed with the January issue along with any suggestions you care to make. At present I’m encouraged by requests that have come in so quickly from R. V. Snead, Mrs. C. R. Hite, G. M. Black, Robert L.Brown.
As resylt of inquires from local sheepmen your county agent is making studies of the pro and con pos^ sibilities of organized Spring Lamb Sales. Included is a survey report form which was sent to all sheep owners on our list asking for a report in their flock size, lamb marketing methods followed last year, management practices being followed etc. This is felt to be necessary to learn “where we are” which we must certainly know before we can make any intelligent plans in “where we are going.”
Very interesting and pertinent replies to inquiries regarding the proposed sales have been received from the National Association of Food Chains, Swift and Company, Armour and the renowned sheep authority, George W. Litton, head of the Animal Husbandry Department of VPI.
Upon completion of the survey which is also being conducted in Warren County meetings will be called to report on findings and decide on rules and regulations governing the sale should such findings prove possible. We have learned that marketing methods similar to our tentative plans have proven very satisfactory in North Carolina, Ohio and especially in Kentucky around Paris, Winchester and Lexington.

DeBergh, Flora K. Jones, H. L. Manwaring, John H. Williams. A. H. Buckner, III, W. A. Miller, Glen Updike, Kelly Updike, Randall Updike, Lewis Farm, and Castleton Farm representing a total of 814 ewes. Please send in your flock report if you are not among those listed above.
