Williams, executive director of the Life Insurers Conference, Richmond, Va., a native of Rappahannock County, who ocntered the insurance business by way of the casualty route with one of the country's great companies—The Travelers—is the recipient of The Insurance Field’s 1953 award of Man-of-TheYear in Life Insurance. Announcement of the award was made Dec. 31 by The Field’s editor and publisher, Fred C. Crowell, Jr.
Martin Braxton Williams, son of a Methodist minister, at the age of 40 thus becomes the youngest man to * receive this industry honor in the 12-year history of the award.
Always a leader, Martin Williams was president of his high school graduating class; worked his way through Duke University and was a Rhodes Scholar candidate. His college yearbook, of which he was editor, was picked for All American lating. *
