Saw (don’t remember where) that the fall pig crop is about 9% lower than a year ago representing a total of 3 million pigs or so. Thus hog priqes should held up well through the first half of ‘54. The larger spring crop expected will probably cuse a declining market in the fall.
It looks like next year’s turkey crop will be the largest in history. R. “J. Krueger, Assoc. Extension Agricultural Economist and Poultry Marketing Specialist of VPI, reminds turkey growers of the 1952 price situation when the U. S. turkey crop was 60i million birds. Growers intentions indicated in December pointed twoards repetitin of 1952 prices.
