“Conservation of valuable rainfall is of vital importance in growing com on my farm,” says Ueorge Crookes, dairy farmer in the Lakota <area. Several years ago George purchased a 238 acre farm, constructed a dairy bam and started dairying. Recently he added another 367 acre farm just across the river on which he will grow corn, sittall grain and hay as well as graze dry cows and young cattle. All crop rotations on the Crookes’ farms are being established in contour strips, thus conserving both valuable rainfall and indispcnsible top soil.
