He was the youngest president o! the Richmond Association of Insurance Agents and during his administration that organization won the.coveted Bernard Carter Trophy for outstanding contribution to the insurance business in Virginia.
His civic activities in the city of Richmond are too numerous to mention. He was elected president of the Richmond Junior Chamber of Commerce three months after becoming a member. He was catapulted to the presidency of the Virginia State Jr. Chamber of Commerce. He is currently president of the Richmond Chapter of the American Heart Association and is president of the Current Affairs Club of Richmond. For three years he has served as Santa Gaus for Richmond’s crippled children, a local Kiwanis project. And at the recent meeting of the executive committee of LIC in New York he was made a Kentucky Colonel.
Of Martin Williams, The Insurance Field said editorially in 1951; “It is safe to assert that no organization in the life insurance business has as spectacular a record of progress, development arid growth during the past five years . . . and it has become increasingly clear t oall that one man has been primarily responsible for this enviable record. He is LICs very capable and personable executive director, Martin B. Williams.”
