“The President invites Honorable Dorothy Davis to attend the sessions of the White House Conference on Highway Safety <to be held at Constitution Hall, Washington, D. C., February 17, 18 and 19.” . . . thus read the official invitation received by Mrs. George Davis, Jr., Mayor of Washington, requesting her presence at a convention iniaited by President Eisenhower for he purpose of developing nation wide public support at the community level for proven (methods of improving street and highway safety. ■v In later phone calls and countless letters Mrs. Davis was asked to be a member of the Advisory Committee which would convene the Tuesday > before the opening session, to act on a panel on traffic safety, and to appear on a TV program highlighting the convention. - '
