The story of the blind man in Chapter 9 of John’s Gospel is a very fascinating one, also a very illuminating one. There is always a question in our minds as to why certain things happen, and that is the question here. The disciples attributed this man’s affliction to the sin of his parents or to himself in some previous existence and so they asked Jesus why.

The story breaks itself into several parts: Verses 1-7 reveals the record of the sign; Verses 8-23 reveal the discussion following the sign; Verses 24-34 reveal the acts and excommunication of the man by the Pharisees; and Verses 35- '
