' The Rappahannock' Chiefs held the League Leading Oak Grovers to a 0-0 count until the eighth inning Sunday ' afternoon in an exciting game on the Grovers’ diamond.
Hockman of the Grovers belted ' a homer in the eighth which touched about 426 feet- to put -the Grovers ahead 1-0. Wymer singled, Williams was safe on an error, and both men stole to move to second and third respectively. A third player was put on and Spiker. -tripled to score all three men. A single brought Spiker in, Rhodes grounded out while Heishman. took second, and Hollar singled for his third hit of the ball game scoring Heishman.
D. Dyke, next up, was safe on an error. Bauserman singled scoring Dyke and. also coming all the way home on two Chiefs errors. Wymer walked, Williams flew out and Hbckman singled for his fourth hit of the game, moving Wymer to third., Spiker struck out ending the inning, and Rap-, „ pahannock went down in order to end the game.
Jack Rhodes, the Oak Grove hurler, thus pitched his 26th consecutive inning of shut out ball as the Chiefs were blanked by a final score of 8-0.
