Citizens Disapprove Purchase of Bonds
' The sentiment expressed in the town meeting held Friday 25th called to discuss publicly the purchasing of the Water Bonds by the town of Washington, showed the majority of those present^ around 25, to be opposed to any 'change of khe situation, as is. ‘ Eugene Cossell, representing the bond holders, offered the bonds to the town for 80c on $1. It was immediately evident that * the townspeople at the meeting were largely opposed; to this proposal, giving such reasons as: 1. Why should the town obligate herself for such a debt; they can’t be made to pay them the way it is now; 2. The persons who bought the work’s bonds made a bad investment, and therefore must, as investors, bear the brunt of “fate” or “loss”. The water works are no good, so why should the town invest money in something that may break down any minute; and,
