winter wheat relatively short, millers are paying pretty close to .support prices less storage. Virginia prices last week were $1.90 to $2.00 a bushel, with some wheat bringing $2.10. .Considering that trade discounts for light garlic are less than government discounts, it might pay a fanner with good quality grain to sell. .Wheat prices probably won’t drop off much this week, despite advancing harvests. Both Richmond and Kansas City markets, which usually drop off when the new crop comes in, advanced last week in the face of the first heavy supplies.
Indications .were that the trade will continue to pay prices high enough to keep farm wheat from going under loan through this week anyway.
HOGS
It looks as if hog prices may be getting close to their peak.
The Virginia auction average was $1.30 higher last week, to reach an average price of $22.30, but both Virginia and, Chicago prices broke toward the end of the week. <
