The embroidery centers are rooms with straw mats on the floor where everyone from grandmother to little sister come and embroidery all day. They are paid a small amount according to the amount of thread used. Some of the children could not have been over 8 years though they were smaller and looked older. They worked on delicate patterns or helped their mothers without an error. Everything, is done in mass production there. They stood in long lines for milk (powdered), rations and awaiting their turn in the government clinic. That was the thing that impressed me so fcbout GAZA—the masses of hopless and almost forgotten
