War Veterans Claims Advisor At Clerk's Office Twice Monthly
A number of veterans have called this office about reinstating G I insurance, saying that they had beard that a new law allows WWII and Korean veterans to pick up; insurance they dropped. The announcement appearing recently in the papers was to the effect that the Survivor Benefits Act, signed by the President on August 1, 1956. provides for reinstatement of '5 year term G T insurance which was lost after July 23. 1953 because of falure to pay either or both of the last two monthly premums. This bill did NOT provide that all veterans could pick up lost G I insurance, but it appies only to veterans whose term NSLI policies lapsed at the expiration of a 5 yeat term because ether or both the last or next to last monthly premiums were not paid. The new law was made retroactive to July 23, 1953 because on that date the automatic renewal without application law became
