The Amissville Vol. Fire Co. with the able assistance of the Ladies Auxiliary cleared $6,700.48 on their carnival last week.
Hazel Mills was elected Queen by 752 votes and was presented a bouquet of red carnations and a wide yellow-gold bracelet. Barbara Jacobs and Gloria Kemper, runners-up each received a wide silver bracelet. Others in the Queen’s court were given a chain bracelet. ' ,
The Queen was crowned by Haywood Colvin Chief of the Culpeper Fire Co. on Thursday night. Miss Elizabeth Ellett of Culpeper won the lawn set, and a large cake donated by Mrs. Dunnie Eastham was won by Mr. Jack D. Weaver of Culpeper.
Box suppers, consisting of fried chicken, old ham on biscuits,potato salad, deviled eggs, pickle and pie were sold at the food stand in addition to the regular fare of hot dogs, hamberger and coffee.
The bake and handiwork stands did well with itS homemade pies cakes and cookies and handwork.
A large cake made and donated by Mrs. Bernard Weaver was won by Mrs. Allen Cooper of Fiewtowri, and one donated bv Hiss Irva Poe was won by Elmer [enkins of Korea, Va.on Satirr- • i lav night. Many fine prizes were donated lo the raffle booths by the business i von by men of Amissville.
