YOUR

CONGRESSMAN

REPORTS

By Rep.'Burr P. Harrison

Federal and State highway officials are being questioned persistently these days as to the effects the fjuge new national road- building program will have on particular regions and communities.

The “greatest interest is the socalled superhighways—the roads in the National Interstate System. The Federal Government now is permitted to put up 90 per cent of the cost of completing this system, with the States chipping in 10 per cent. In addition, the old formula of 50-50 sharing will be conTnued for other primary roads and ' for secondary roads.
