Continued from pug* on* “Big Surprise" was the solo type of quiz show, and as yet has not been subjected to investigation by Congress, or the New York Grand Jury.
When two contestants are required to answer the same questions in order to win, a fix is very simple; one contestant is given the 1 answers and the other is riot.
In my program I was the only participant on the subject of George Washington. When I knew the answers I won. When I did not know the answer I lost. If the producers wanted the participant to win the top money, he or she wap asked questions they knew the contestant could answer. To this extent the show was controlled by the “feed back" method, that is, asking questions on the show that were previously asked during the warm-up session. Questions were “fed back" to me until I won $5,000, however, I answered the ten and twenty thousand dollar questions on my own and lost on the $50,000.
I do not believe that either Jack Barry or Mike Wallace, the two Masters of Ceremony, participated in any fix on the “Big Surprise”. It was not the type of show for a fix. However, it is apparent form the recent investigations into the quiz show scandals that Barry was very active in the rigging of “21”.
It is also apparent that Shirley Bernstein, associate producer of the $64,000 Challenge, participated in a “fix” for that show. Miss Bernstein was also associate producer of th “Big Surprise”, and the person who prepared my - questions. She in no way helped me with the answers and whether she helped oth
