Thomas S. Settle, 78, retired secretary and legal adviser for the National Capital Park and Planning Commission and tireless civit worker, died Tuesday, Novembei 3, at his home m Washington, D. C.
He retired from the Hanning Commission in! 1951 after 20 yean of service.
Mr. Settle said his goal had been “to "make the National Capital an ideal city.”
Among the legislation and programs which Mr. Settle fought for were construction of the George Washington Memorial Parkway, creation of the District Recreation Board and passage of the Alley Dwelling Authority Act and urban redevelopment legislation.
