Ten Years Of Home
Demonstration Clubs
The past ten year* have seen many changes taking place in both Home Demonstration and 4-H Club work.
In 1949 there were 14 H. D. groups organized in the county. These have decreased to the present number of 6, however several of the dubs are combined so that most people are still served by the Extension Program. The six dubs functioning are Flint Hill, Sperryville, WoodvHle, Slate Mills Castleton and die A, and W.
During 1959 die District Federation Chairman was Mrs. Barbara Gentry from Rappahannock. Also the 'H. D Clubs of the county were hostess for the District meeting held last April.
During these years, topics of interest have been planned by the members for their programs. Not only have the dubs had training from agents, but members have been trained at county meetings and have given demonstrations for their clubs.
In 4-H dubs there has been a steady increase in enrollment of girls during the past years. At present 149 girls are enrolled in nine clubs. This foil at the county council meeting there was a record attendance with all nine chibs being represented.
This year eight girls had 16 entries in the Warren Coupty Fair and received 13 prizes. Brenda Nalls, Katherine Nalls, Jean Lfllard, Judy Kay Lillard, Virginia Bradford, Dana Snead, Rebecca Rector and Peachey Lyne were die exhibitors.
