“Believe k or not”, that is the truth, in spite of the fact that it is generally believed that nothing really succeeds in Rappahannock, except fanning and orchards.
Mrs. L. B. Stuart and Mrs. Stanish Riley, after nineteen months of success felt that they had either to expand or to close. They decided that in justice to themselves and to their homes that they should close, much to the regret of a host of supporters.
It was hoped by their many patrons, that the business would be taken over by someone as interested as Mrs. Stuart and Mrs. Riley, (they realized however, that would be almost impossible) and that the business would grow, be not only helpful to the people of Rappahannock, but to the neighboring counties. The citizens of Rappahannock have had two years to think about it, but to date no one seems sufficienty interested in building on a successful business, to hang out a sign reading “Remnant Shop.’’,
It is 1 believed by many that a good business opportunity is wait- ; ing for someone.
Mrs. Riley keeps a limited supply of goods at her home at Amissville.
