As far back as the oldest residents of Rappahafinock can remember, trips to the Devil’s Stairs have been the high-lights of die summer season in Rappahannock. On die walls of die Devil’s House are. carved hundreds of names of those : who have visited there. Howcvw, the picnic lunches served on such .' Occasions are said to have been fit for the Gods.
It can truthfully be said (hat no one person arranged more trips to die Devil’s Stairs than the late ; John A. Keyser. “Cousin John” as he was affectionately called by a .. host of relatives and friends. And j.' that no one enjoyed giving pleasure to others more than he.
There were always horses ( and good ones) for those, who wanted to ride and a place in the hay wag| on for all those who wanted to take i the trip. If you didn't go and have t a good time it was your own fault
