Hikers Scale Mt.
To Waterfall
Sunday afternoon sixteen hikers trooped up the mountainside from Bean Hollow near Flint Hill, to the waterfalls high up in the Park area.
The route taken was sometimes quite rough, over boulders, fallen timber and across a stream, but proved interesting with wild flowers dotting the woodland floor and mosses clinging to the rocks,While sprouting acorns dug their slim roots into the rich black earth.
The lacy water falls cascaded over slick worn boulders, dropping fifty feet and the water rushed hurridly on to the river.
On the return trip, Mr. Bolen, who owns a farm at the foot of the mountain, invited everyone in, to look over his quaint old house, part of which is log, with two enormous rock chimneys and a fireplace in every room, that he is renovating.
A stately sycamore tree, judged to be at least 200 years old.by Forrester Raymond Johnson, shades a beautiful, clean, spring-fed pond; a true paradise, surrounded by towering mountain peaks.
