Soil Conservation

The problem of erosion is one of the greatest problems facing farmers today. So I’d like to talk a bit about that problem for a few minutes—about the part farmers play as stewards of the soil. Stewardship of the land is stewardship of our greatest resource. Farmers with the stewardship of conserving our farmland, are actually serving as stewards of our welfare—mine yours, and everybody’s. I know we have all heard the expressioni that something is “dirt cheap”. Dirt is indeed cheap—it’s always creeping into the houses where we don’t want it. But another form of dirt, our soil, our farmland, is by no means cheap and it is becoming more expensive every day.
