Washington—In dollar value, the Federal Government has in storage more than 45 times as much surplus agricultural products a< it has emergency medical supplies and other civil defense equipment held against the possibility of enemy attack.
This is not cited as an argument for increased stockpiling of civil defense gear, but merely as an example of how the warehousing of farm surpluses overshadows other federal stockpiling.
For the most part, of course, the agricultural items are in storage because means of preventing the pileup have not been found under present price-support disposal policies.
