Ordinance Proposed

Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors met Wednesday, September 7 in the court house at Washington, Virginia with all members present. ^
After the meeting was called to order, the minutes of the last meet ing were read and approved.
Mr. Dare of Montgomery County, a representative of the State Chamber of Commerce, spoke to the board on the advantages of belonging to the State Organization, pointing out that it helped - in securing new business and industry for the county.
A motion was made and carried to join the State Chamber of Commerce with a minimum membership fee of $50.
Mr. Q. D. Gasque, Superintendent of Public Schools in Rappahannock, came before the board to discuss the erection of a gymnasium at the George Washington Carver School at Rapidan, which is a-Neggro high school, built and maintained by Orange, Madison, Culpeper and Rappahannock Counties. Funds are already available and the supervisors agreed to the building Action has to be taken by all 4 county boards.?
Two hospital bills, totaling $705 were presented foi payment by the Welfare Department and were approved.
Claims for 9 sheep belonging to M. C. Gore and 1 sheep of Levi Atkins killed by dogs were paid.
Supervisor L. H. Luttrell inquired into the possibility of an open season on -coons, since they are
';•> ing destructive to farmers. Gamcwarden C. E. Brown is at liberty to issue permits to anyone who is being overly bothered with these animals.
An ordinance was proposed for a tax on wills and administrations which are admitted to probate and record (see order of publication elsewhere in the paper) to come before the board at the October meeting.
Current bills were approved for payment before the meeting adjourned.
