Several Kosher holidays are due to be observed over a three-week period beginning later this month and running into October. Of the 12 days in the three-week period, there are seven on which no kosher slaughtering of livestock is permitted, and of the seven, there are six which fall on days of the week when kosher slaughtering is ordinarily conducted.

Yom Kippur on Saturday, October 1 will not affect the market for kosher-style livestock since there is never any kosher slaughtering on Saturdays.
Several buying interests report they anticipate a very good demand for high choice and prime cattle this week as processors of kosher beef will move a heavier volume of kosher beef into retail channels just prior to the beginning of the holiday period.
