John W. Brown, scahan, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Brown of Sperryville, Va. is serving aboard the attack aircraft carrier USS Independence operating with the Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean. The carrier recently vis- ^ ited Rome, Italy, where her crew was offered the opportunity to see the 17th Olympic Games and receive a Papal audience.

Marine MSgt. George S. Williams, son of Agnes C. Williams of Castleton, Va., is serving with the Second Service Battalion a unit of the Second Marine Division at Camp Lejune, N. C.

He completed the Marine Corps Institute Course Sub-Course Maintenance Individual Management and sub-course Artillery August 9. The Second Service Battalion supplies and supports the Division in combat. *

Before enlisting in May 194ft, Williams graduated from Sperryville High School.

Pvt. Herman (Bobby) Williams, who is stationed at Fort Jackson, S. C., spent the weekend with his parents at Chester Gap.
