Dr. Head Speak* To NFA
Dr. M. A. Fields, Head, Department of Agricultural Education and State Advisor of the Virginia Association of New Farmers of America, spoke to the local NFA chapter at the Carver High School on Thursday, November 17. H^ commended the members for having been ranked second in the state in I960 competing among 57 chapters. “In the line of FFA Foundation Awards, no other chapter in the state surpasses you. You must remember however, that you cannot become complacent and stand on your accomplishments. Your objective for 1961 should be that of exceeding the accomplishments attained in 1960.”
The president, Clarence Washington of Madison County, conducted the meeting. He emphasized the efficient functioning of each appointed committee and urged each member to make himself available for participation in one or more of the many planned activities for 1960-61.

Cadet Teaching
James A. Flannaglui, a senior at the Virginia State College, has recently completed his cadet teaching work in vocational agriculture at the Carver Regional High School. Flannagan was born in Charlottesville, Virginia. He attended the A. (7. Richardson High School in Ijouisa, Virginia.
The cadet teaching period extended for nine weeks. During this time, Flannagan received practical experiences in the following areas: actual classroom instruction, onfarm instruction, NFA work on the chapter and federation levels, out-of-school organized agricultural groups, agricultural advisory council, office and agricultural organized Work, and school-community public relations.
While in college, Flannagan was affiliated with and active in the following organizations: Scientific Agricultural Club, Student Christian Association, Kappa Alpha Psi
