Our Responsibility to Our School
This year we were most fortunate in moving into a new school building. The people of Rappahannock County have worked for many years to give us, their children, this schooil so that we may have better facilities for getting a better education. In return for their work we should be eternally grateful . To show our appreciation we must keep this new school new for the many students who will coine here in the future. To keep it new we must keep it clean. We must put paper and trash where it belongs in the waste basket5. Iion't be lazy and put it in a desk or on the floor for someone else to pick up. We are supposed to be growing into responsible adults but we must show our responsibility by keeping this building new and clean. Ice cream can ruin this floor if it is left on it. What’s more, it is very hard to get oft the floor once it is dry. Mr. Atkins is doing a wonderful job but, must we give him more work? Bat your ice crearrt in the proper place and if you happen to drop some clean it up It seem« another habit of ours is to carve our names in various places. All of us want to be remembered but do we want to be remembered as the thoughtless student who ruined a new desk with his name. Certainly not, if you want to carve your name, carve it on a piece of paper and hold it up for all your friends to see. They will centainly remember you for that!
These are only a few of the many things we can do to keep our school new for many years to come. Ask yourself these questions. What will our school look like in the future, Will we be growing into responsible adults by keeping it new, will we be careless teen-age children by letting our school show its age of use?
