It has been my understanding that the present use of Cheatham Annex represents an efficient operation at a cost to the government lower than would be entailed by use of commercial facilities at a greater distance from producing areas of the Southeast.
In addition there would seem to be no question of the mutual importance of this establishment for the rapid delivery to the Army from Virginia and other Southeastern poultry producers of high quality poultry in good condition at reasonable prices.
1 hope y ou will be able to give assurance that Cheatham Annex will continue to function as a receiving and storage depot for poultry and otyher perishable food items.
