Mrs. Roberta
Campbell
Mrs. Roberta Campbell of Babylon, New York, formerly of Amissville, died Thursday, November 17, at the residence of her granddaughter, Mrs. Jane Mertz in Babylon, following: a year of declining health. She was 70 years of age.
A native of Rappahannock County, she was a daughter of the late Major Green Fincham and Martha Dodson, his wife. Her husband was the late Eirnest Campbell of Rappahannock County.
She is survived by two daughters. Mrs. George Elam of Hume and Mrs. Minnie Elana of Elmont, New York; three sons, Melvin Campbell, Raymond Campbell and Irvin Campbell, all otf Culpeper; a sister, Mrs. Ida Rutherford of Woodville; seventeen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Sunday, November 20, from Amissville Baptist Church, with the Rev. John B. Hodge conducting the last rites. Interment followed in Fairview Cemetery in Culpeper.
Pallbearers were joe Mertz, Emerson Smith, Silas O’Bannon, P. A. Hughes, Jr., Charles Compton, William Carter and Ralph Rowzie.
Geest Funeral Parlors were in charge of arrangements.
Marie Scott Lewis
Marie Scott Lewis, age 45, the daughter of the late George Scott and the late Neva Smith Scott of Viewtown, Rappahannock County, Va., died of lobar pneumonia in the General Hospital, Washington, D. C.. on November 1st. She had made her home in Washington for the past 20 years. *
She is survived by a brother, Charles H. Scott of Fredericksburg, Va.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 8th, with graveside services at the Smith family cemetery at Viewtown, Va. The Rev. John B. Hodge, pastor of Forest Grove Baptist Church conducted the service.
Pallbearers were Menefee Utz, Warren, Ellis. Woodrow, Edward and Moffett Smith.
